6400.63(a)On 10/6/2020 at 1:20PM, the hot water temperature at the sink in the bathroom with the "walk-in-bathtub" measured 125.4 degrees Fahrenheit. On 10/6/2020 at 1:23PM, the hot water temperature at the sink in the kitchen of the home measured 132.2 degrees Fahrenheit.Heat sources, such as hot water pipes, fixed space heaters, hot water heaters, radiators, wood and coal-burning stoves and fireplaces, exceeding 120°F that are accessible to individuals, shall be equipped with protective guards or insulation to prevent individuals from coming in contact with the heat source. The day of the inspection, as soon as the high temperature was detected, the maintenance department was notified.A maintenance man adjusted the temperature on the water tank, took the temperature and took a picture of the thermostat reading at 110 degrees Fahrenheit. This picture was sent to [the Department], the inspector. Staff was immediately reminded that the water temperature is to be measured on a nightly basis. Additionally, the 3rd shift (night shift) checklist was revised on 10/22/2020 to include that all tubs and sink water temperatures are to be taken and documented on the checklist each night. Additional instructions were written on the checklist, that if the water temperature at any tub or sink in the home is above 120 degrees temperature the Nightshift supervisor is to be instructed immediately. Further, that the Nightshift Supervisor is to file a maintenance report immediately. Until the temperature has been adjusted at the home, the staff is to communicate via the site¿s Communication log, as well as verbally, that all staff is to assist the people in the home to adjust the water temperature in sinks and tubs as they use the water.
