6400.112(d)On 10/7/2016 a sleep fire drill was conducted with an evacuation time that exceeded the 2 ½ minutes requirement. The fire drill evacuation time was documented at 2 minutes and 59 minutes due to the individual being tired and not wanting to evacuate. Individuals shall be able to evacuate the entire building, or to a fire safe area designated in writing within the past year by a fire safety expert, within 2 1/2 minutes or within the period of time specified in writing within the past year by a fire safety expert. The fire safety expert may not be an employe of the home or agency. Staff assistance shall be provided to an individual only if staff persons are always present at the home while the individual is at the home. 1. Provider will ensure that monthly fire drills are completed and that all individuals are able to evacuate in under 2.5 minutes or the time specified by a fire safety expert. 2. The site had a successful overnight fire drill on 10/14/16. 3. To prevent recurrence of this issue, the program specialist will continue to monitor fire drills at all sites. If this issue presents itself again, the program specialist and operations director will collaborate with the fire department and county SCO as needed to add additional support and/or training. The Program Specialist will offer additional training and/or desensitization plans as needed for individuals experiencing difficulties evacuating in under 2.5 minutes. 4. The Program Specialist will implement this plan of correction as written. The Operations Director will monitor implementation through on site observations of fire drills as needed. Any further areas of non-compliance will be evaluated and additional support provided as needed. 03/08/2017 Implemented
