6400.68(b) | At 9:38 AM, the hot water temperature at the bathtub in the bathroom in the home measured 123.4 degrees Fahrenheit. | Hot water temperatures in bathtubs and showers may not exceed 120°F. | On 9/6/19, the hot water heater was turned down after a measurement of 123.4. That night staff took a new temperature reading at 1am that read 117 degrees with a different thermometer. Staff continue to monitor temperatures daily in a log and readings from 9/7 through 9/13 have all been under 120 degrees. The licensing Coordinator has purchased 25 digital waterproof COKEA thermometers for all residential homes. These thermometers will be more accurate then the mercury thermometers that were previously used. Thermometers will be distributed on 9/16/19 and old thermometers will be removed at the same time. Staff will receive instructions to operate digital thermometers. Staff will continue to check temperatures daily and record results in daily log. Any temperatures out of acceptable range will be recorded by staff and adjustments to the hot water heater will be made by staff or maintenance. [Within 30 days of receipt of the plan of correction, the CEO or designee shall educate all staff persons responsible for completing hot water temperature checks on the procedures to measure, document, report to maintenance and/or adjust water temperatures to ensure hot water temperatures in bathtubs and showers do not exceed 120°F. Documentation of the trainings shall be kept. (DPOC by AES,HSLS on 9/19/19)] |
